Alberta Class 7 Knowledge Test Guide 2026: 30 Questions, ~83% Pass
How to pass the Alberta Class 7 learner knowledge test in 2026: 30 questions, about 25 correct to pass, Chinese language options at registries, and what to study from the Alberta Driver's Guide.
Last reviewed
In Alberta, new drivers start with a Class 7 learner licence. Before you can practice on the road with a qualified supervisor, you must pass a knowledge (theory) test at a registry agent office. The questions on this site follow that exam and the Alberta Driver's Guide.
Test format
- 30 multiple-choice questions
- About 25 correct answers to pass (roughly 83%)
- No time limit
- Available in many languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese
You also need to pass a vision screening when you apply. Fees and booking details vary by registry office — check locally before you go.
What to study
Expect road signs, right-of-way, speed limits, GDL rules, sharing the road, impairment, and Alberta-specific limits and fines. Sign recognition questions are common, so practise with images, not only text.
After you pass
You receive a Class 7 learner licence and enter Alberta's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program. Learner rules include supervision requirements and other restrictions until you advance to Class 5-GDL and later a full Class 5. Always confirm current holding periods on the official Alberta site.
