Class D License

Country : America
Province : New York

Class D is New York’s ordinary car licence. The written exam is the learner-permit test, and these questions follow that exam. You answer 20 multiple-choice questions and need 14 correct. Four of the twenty are road-sign items, and you must get at least two of those four right — miss that pair and the test fails even if the other sixteen are perfect. The official Driver’s Manual chapters 4 through 11 are the source, and the chapter quizzes use real test questions. Chinese is one of the languages offered at DMV offices. Some applicants under 18 can write the test online; after an online pass, DMV needs three business days before you finish the office visit. Bring the identity documents listed on form ID-44. A missing proof is a wasted trip, and the permit class you leave with (Standard, Enhanced or REAL ID) depends on what you bring.

How to use this question bank

What this knowledge test actually covers

  • The official Driver’s Manual includes chapter quizzes with real test questions.
  • Chinese is one of the languages offered at DMV offices.
  • After an online permit test, DMV needs three business days before you finish the office visit.
  • A Class D permit is for cars; motorcycle and CDL tests are separate manuals.
