Class D License
Class D is New York's standard operator licence for passenger cars. The first step is the learner permit knowledge test these questions cover. The written test has 20 multiple-choice questions. You need at least 14 correct (70%). Four of the twenty are road-sign questions, and you must get at least two of those four right — a perfect score on rules will not save a weak signs section. The test is available in about 20 languages including Chinese. Questions come from the New York State Driver's Manual. Under-18 applicants follow the Graduated Driver License program after the permit.
