How many passengers can an M1 driver carry?
- None ✓
- One immediate relative
- One
- Two
Answer: A. None
An M1 driver cannot carry any passengers at all.
Why this is the answer
The motorcycle handbook states plainly that Level One (M1) drivers are not allowed to carry passengers. That applies from the moment you hold the M1 licence, so the number of passengers you may carry is zero. The handbook adds that even at Level Two (M2) you should avoid carrying passengers until you have more experience, and before taking a passenger your motorcycle needs a large enough seat and footrests for them. For an M1 holder, though, the rule is simply no passengers.
Why the other answers are wrong
- B. One immediate relative — There is no exception letting an M1 driver carry a family member; the handbook says it is illegal for M1 drivers to carry passengers, full stop.
- C. One — Carrying a single passenger is still carrying a passenger, which the handbook says M1 drivers may not do.
- D. Two — Two passengers goes even further past the rule that M1 drivers carry no passengers at all.
Remember it
Think of M1 as a solo licence: until you move up, the seat behind you stays empty.
