This sign means?
- Caution: Animal Crossing
- Snowmobile parking ahead
- Snowmobiles cross this road ✓
- Bicycle parking permitted
Answer: C. Snowmobiles cross this road
This sign means snowmobiles cross this road, so be alert for snowmobiles crossing ahead.
Why this is the answer
The handbook lists this among its common warning signs, and the wording is exactly that snowmobiles cross this road. Warning signs alert you to a condition ahead so you can slow down and watch for it, so the message here is to expect snowmobiles moving across your path. Nothing in the passage says anything about parking or bicycles, and it is not the animal crossing warning.
Why the other answers are wrong
- A. Caution: Animal Crossing — The passage describes this as a snowmobile crossing warning, not a general animal crossing sign, so watching for wildlife is not what it tells you.
- B. Snowmobile parking ahead — The sign warns of snowmobiles crossing the road, and nothing in the passages says it marks a parking area for snowmobiles.
- D. Bicycle parking permitted — Bicycle routes have their own separate sign in the regulatory list, so this warning sign has nothing to do with bicycle parking.
Remember it
In the warning sign lineup the snowmobile sign sits with road-hazard signs, so read it as something crossing your path, not somewhere to park.
