This sign means?
- Construction zone, Crew working ✓
- School area ahead
- Pedestrian control sign
- Flagman on duty ahead
Answer: A. Construction zone, Crew working
The sign means a construction zone with crew working, so obey the posted speed and follow the work-zone instructions.
Why this is the answer
The handbook groups this sign with construction signs, which warn of construction and maintenance work. In that section it lists "Crew working — obey posted speed limit," so the sign is telling you crews are working and you must follow the posted speed. The construction-zone section adds that you obey construction zone speed limits, stop when directed, and leave space between your vehicle and the crews and their equipment. That matches a construction zone with crew working, not a school, pedestrian, or flagman warning.
Why the other answers are wrong
- B. School area ahead — The passages list school signs as their own sign category, and none of them says this sign warns of a school area.
- C. Pedestrian control sign — The passages do not describe this as a pedestrian control sign; they discuss construction signs and work-zone rules instead.
- D. Flagman on duty ahead — The passages mention traffic-control persons you must obey in a work zone, but they do not describe this sign as a flagman-ahead warning.
Remember it
Remember the crew: work-zone signs mean obey the posted speed and keep clear of crews and equipment.
