This sign means?
- Restricted parking available
- Free parking available
- Park in the area between the signs
- Do not park here ✓
Answer: D. Do not park here
The sign means do not park here.
Why this is the answer
The handbook includes parking signs among the signs that tell you where parking is permitted and when. In that same parking-sign section, it lists “Do not park here” as a sign meaning. The handbook also says parking illegally can lead to fines or towing. So the sign is a prohibition: it tells you that parking is not allowed in that place.
Why the other answers are wrong
- A. Restricted parking available — The passages do not describe this as a sign for restricted parking availability; it is listed as a sign that says parking is not allowed.
- B. Free parking available — A free-parking meaning is the opposite of the handbook’s “Do not park here” parking sign.
- C. Park in the area between the signs — The passages do not say this sign means to park in the area between signs.
Remember it
When a parking sign tells you not to park, read it as a prohibition, not as permission.
